Yunus Emre: The Voice of Love (Yunus Emre: Aşkın Sesi) (translated)

Yunus Emre: Aşkın Sesi (Yunus Emre: The Voice of Love) is a 2014 Turkish historical drama about the life of Yunus Emre, one of Anatolia's most celebrated folk poets and Sufi mystics. Released in Turkish cinemas on 10 January 2014 and running about 100 minutes, it was both written and directed by Kürşat Kızbaz, who had earlier made the 2008 documentary Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi: Aşkın Dansı about Rumi.

The story follows Yunus, a villager in an Anatolian countryside ravaged by war and violence, on his transformation into the poet whose ideas of love would resonate across centuries. Haunted by regret over having chosen wheat, he bids farewell to everyone he loves, including Balım Kız, and sets out on the road. Seeking Divine Love, the greatest love of all, he asks the wandering saints of Anatolia to guide him, unaware that what he is searching for lies within himself.

Devrim Evin plays the lead role; the Beyazperde credits also list Bülent Emin Yarar and Ahmet Mekin, while this site's records additionally associate Sinan Albayrak and Tamer Levent with the cast. Built around Yunus Emre's philosophy of peace and love rather than a conventional biography, the film received a lukewarm critical response, with audience scores somewhat higher than the critics'.
