Twin Peaks: The Return is the third season of the mystery drama created by Mark Frost and David Lynch, bringing the franchise back to television more than 25 years after the original 1990–91 ABC series and its 1992 feature film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. Written by Lynch and Frost and directed entirely by Lynch, the 18-episode limited series ran on Showtime in the United States from May 21 to September 3, 2017.

The story unfolds a quarter century after the original events and revolves around FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), who once investigated the 1989 murder of teenager Laura Palmer. Cooper's long struggle to make his way back to Twin Peaks anchors a web of interlocking plotlines that reach far beyond the fictional Washington town, taking in New York City, Las Vegas, South Dakota, New Mexico and Texas. Returning performers such as MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee and Mädchen Amick were joined by new faces including Laura Dern, Naomi Watts, Jim Belushi and Robert Forster. Hailed for its daring narrative structure and visual imagination, the season topped many critics' lists as the finest television of 2017; Cahiers du Cinéma even named it the best film of the decade.
