Movie · 1978–1979 · 3 people

The Greatest Battle (original Italian title Il grande attacco) is a 1978 Euro War film directed by Umberto Lenzi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Cesare Frugoni. An Italian-West German-Yugoslav co-production made by Mino Loy and Luciano Martino for Titanus, it follows a group of German and Allied characters whose paths cross during the early years of World War II: British commando Captain Martin Scott (Giuliano Gemma), American General Harold Foster (Henry Fonda) and his son John (Ray Lovelock), Jewish actress Annelise Ackermann (Samantha Eggar), war correspondent Sean O'Hara (John Huston), and two contrasting German lieutenants, Kurt Zimmer (Helmut Berger) and Manfred Roland (Stacy Keach). The story builds to a large-scale recreation of the Battle of the Mareth Line in Tunisia. The ensemble also includes Ida Galli and Venantino Venantini, and the picture was released in some territories under the titles The Biggest Battle and Battle Force.
