The Beauty from Peran
The Beauty from Peran (Greek: Η ομορφιά από τον Περάν, Turkish: Beyoğlu Güzeli) is a 1953 Greek-Turkish co-production romantic drama film. It was co-directed by Vedat Örfi Bengü, a well-known figure of early Turkish cinema, and Greek filmmaker Orestis Laskos, making it one of the rare cinematic partnerships between the two countries in that era.
The film stars Katia Linta, Süha Doğan and Muazzez Arçay, with a supporting cast of Turkish and Greek performers including Mesut Sürmeli, Muazzez Doğan, Lilian Gris, Jenny Diamanti, Mimis Mihalopoulos and Renos Vrettakos. Shot in Greek, the production takes its name from Istanbul's Pera (Beyoğlu) district and was circulated under two separate titles in order to reach audiences in both countries.
