Samson

Samson (Sansone) is a 1961 Italian-French co-produced peplum film directed by Gianfranco Parolini, who co-wrote the screenplay with Giovanni Simonelli and Oscar D'Amico. Shot in Yugoslavia, it stars Brad Harris in the title role, alongside Alan Steel, Mara Berni and Serge Gainsbourg, and premiered in Italy on 23 December 1961. It marked the first collaboration between Parolini and Brad Harris.

The film is notable for introducing the character of Samson, stripped of his Biblical traits, into sword-and-sandal cinema. Following its success, the character headlined a series of four further films released between 1963 and 1965. The 96-minute picture was released in West Germany in 1962 under the title Herkules im Netz der Cleopatra.
