Il vecchio testamento

Il vecchio testamento, released in English as The Old Testament, is a 1962 Italian-French widescreen co-production directed by Gianfranco Parolini, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Giovanni Simonelli and Ghigo De Chiara. The epic was shot in Yugoslavia.

The film draws very freely on the apocryphal First and Second Books of Maccabees, depicting the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire between 167 and 141 BC. It stars Brad Harris, in one of his frequent collaborations with Parolini, alongside Alan Steel. Running about 112 minutes, the action film was also released as Der Kampf der Makkabäer in Germany and Los Macabeos in Spain.
