Musica in piazza

Musica in piazza is a 1936 Italian comedy directed by Mario Mattoli. It belongs to the "white telephones" current of the era's Italian cinema, a label for lighthearted films set in elegant surroundings. The screenplay was written jointly by Mattoli, Giacomo Gentilomo and Gherardo Gherardi, and the Italian-language production runs about 66 minutes.

Set in Bevagna, near Perugia, the story follows two cousins who are rival musicians: one devoted to classical music, the other to modern light music, a contrast that gives the film its humorous and musical flavour. Milly, Ugo Ceseri and Enrico Viarisio head the cast, which also includes Guido Celano, Gemma Bolognesi, Mino Doro and Carlo Duse.
