Lea
Lea is a 1996 drama directed by Slovak filmmaker Ivan Fíla. A co-production of the Czech Republic, Germany and France, it was shot in Czech and runs about a hundred minutes. The screenplay was written jointly by Fíla and Ľubomír Feldek. The leads are played by prominent German actors Hanna Schygulla and Udo Kier, with supporting turns from Lenka Dolanská Vlasáková, Miroslav Donutil and Christian Redl among others. Production was handled by Fíla's own outfit, Ivan Fíla Filmproduktion, together with Avista Film. While completed in 1996, the picture only reached screens in some territories in 1997. Blending dramatic and romantic elements, the film stands as a characteristic example of the European co-productions of its decade and holds a notable place in Fíla's body of work.
