Le Magnifique
Le Magnifique is a 1973 French-Italian spy comedy directed by Philippe de Broca, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jacqueline Bisset and Vittorio Caprioli. The film is also known as The Man from Acapulco.
It follows François Merlin, a shy and financially struggling writer of pulp spy novels who imagines himself as the idealised superspy Bob Saint-Clar. In his fiction he casts his charming neighbour Christine as the spy's lover and his publisher Charron as an Albanian villain, and this fantasy soon spills into his real life, creating a love triangle. The result is a slapstick spoof of B-series spy films and novels, above all the James Bond adventures, and of the men who write them.
