Le Guignolo

Le Guignolo is a 1980 French-Italian comedy directed by Georges Lautner, with Jean-Paul Belmondo in the lead. Shot in French, it runs about 90 minutes. The title comes from Italian prison slang, where the word means a third-rate crook. The film was released in Germany as Der Puppenspieler and in Spain as El rey del timo; its Russian title translates as "A Game for Four Hands".

The screenplay is by Jean Vautrin and Michel Audiard. Alongside Belmondo the cast includes Michel Galabru, and the credited names also include Georges Géret, Mirella D'Angelo, Pierre Vernier, Paolo Bonacelli, Michel Beaune, Charles Gérard, Aldo Rendine, Tony Kendall, Henri Guybet, Jacques Ramade and Jean Luisi.

It is the second of five films that Lautner and Belmondo made together. Their partnership started a year earlier with Flic ou Voyou and went on with Le Professionnel (1981), Joyeuses Pâques (1984) and L'Inconnu dans la maison (1992).
