Herkes Kendi Evinde is the feature film debut of director Semih Kaplanoğlu. The 2001 Turkish drama premiered on April 24, 2001, at the Istanbul Film Festival before receiving a nationwide theatrical release in Turkey.

The story follows Selim (Tolga Çevik), who, after losing his parents, plans to emigrate to the United States. Having won the green card lottery, he intends to fund the move by selling the family olive grove. His plans shift when his grandfather Nasuhi (Erol Keskin), who spent many years in Russia, returns to Turkey and wants to visit the grove where he grew up, and a young Russian woman joins them on the journey. The cast also includes Cüneyt Türel, Özlem Çınar, and Şükran Güngör. The film won multiple awards at the Istanbul and Ankara film festivals and the Singapore International Film Festival.
