Fuse (Fuse (film))
Gori vatra, released internationally as Fuse, is a 2003 comedy-drama co-produced by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, and France, written and directed by Pjer Žalica as his feature debut. The Bosnian-language film runs 105 minutes, and Žalica cited Gogol's play "The Government Inspector" as one of the inspirations behind his screenplay.
Set in the late 1990s in the post-war town of Tešanj, the story follows residents who, despite the corruption left by the war years, spend days staging a façade of normality for an upcoming visit by US President Bill Clinton. The film won the Silver Leopard at the 2003 Locarno Film Festival and best film at the Sarajevo Film Festival, and was Bosnia and Herzegovina's submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 76th Academy Awards. Emir Hadžihafizbegović is among the leading cast members.
