The Men's Side (Erkek Tarafı) (translated)

Erkek Tarafı (The Men's Side) is a Turkish comedy series first broadcast in 2005. Produced by Marmara Yapım, it was written by Sevda Fırat Ak and directed by Cem Sürücü. As its title suggests, the show looks at relations between men and women through the eyes of its male characters, treating everyday romantic troubles with a humorous tone.

The story revolves around Kamil, a middle-aged taxi driver played by Burak Sergen. Despite a long engagement to Neslihan, a manicurist portrayed by Asuman Dabak, he never quite manages to marry her, while his friends face their own frustrations with women. His childhood companion Baki, played by Ali Düşenkalkar, leaves home amid a divorce and moves in with him, and the unstable Behlül (Murat Onuk) adds further chaos with his shifting moods. Tonguç (Kâmil Güler), the arrogant son of a wealthy family who appends a signature phrase to everything he says, serves as a recurring vehicle for satire.

Blending character-driven comedy with gentle mockery of relationship woes, the series is a representative example of Turkish television humour of its period.
