Elsa & Fred

Elsa & Fred is a 2005 Argentine-Spanish co-production blending romantic comedy and drama. It was directed by Argentine filmmaker Marcos Carnevale, who co-wrote the screenplay with Marcela Guerty and Lily Ann Martin.

The film tells the story of two elderly people: Elsa, an Argentine woman living in Madrid, and Alfredo, a Spanish widower who moves into her building. After an everyday incident brings them together, a romance blossoms that both see as their last chance at happiness. The cast includes China Zorrilla, Manuel Alexandre, Blanca Portillo, Roberto Carnaghi and Federico Luppi. The 108-minute Spanish-language film opened in Argentina in July 2005, and an American remake followed in 2014.
