El Turco

El Turco is a Turkish-Hungarian historical miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Orhan Yeniaras. Filmed in English with shooting taking place in Italy and Hungary, the series premiered on the GAİN platform in Türkiye on March 21, 2025, and was released simultaneously in many countries, including Russia, Brazil, Italy, and the Middle East. It consists of a single season of six episodes.

The series stars Can Yaman alongside Greta Ferro. Yaman plays Hasan Balaban, a janissary who took part in the 1683 Siege of Vienna while serving Ottoman intelligence. Severely wounded after the siege, Balaban finds refuge in the northern Italian village of Moena, where he recovers with the help of the locals and gradually becomes the village's hero. Those aware of his Ottoman origins nickname him "El Turco," meaning The Turk.
