Dream, Reality, and Cinema (Düş, Gerçek, Bir de Sinema) (translated)

Movie · 1995 · 1 people

Dream, Reality, and Cinema is a 1995 Turkish film directed by Tülay Eratalay. Written by Ayfer Tunç and produced by TRT, the film is built not from a single long narrative but from three independent short segments, each adapted from a story by a different author of Turkish literature.

The first segment, drawn from Reşat Nuri Güntekin, follows a civil servant who wins the lottery yet loses what he has while chasing the dream of a garden restaurant; the second, from Memduh Şevket Esendal, concerns a tenant family whose hard renovation of a dilapidated house goes unrewarded because of neighborhood gossip. The final part, adapted from Muzaffer Buyrukçu, watches an actor who never rose beyond extra work regain his self-confidence. In 1996 the film won best film, director, actor and original music honors at the 8th Ankara International Film Festival, and was named third best film with a supporting actor award at the 10th Adana Golden Koza Film Festival.
