Widows' Pension (Dullar Pansiyonu) (translated)
Dullar Pansiyonu is a Turkish comedy television series adapted from a work by Behlül Dal. Directed by Yavuz Figenli, the production aired on TRT 1 in 1989.
As its title suggests, the series unfolds in and around a boarding house whose residents are widows. The humor springs from the everyday incidents, misunderstandings and colorful personalities surrounding the pension and the people who drift through it. True to the Turkish television comedies of the late 1980s, it relies on an ensemble drawn from the stage and film world of the period, with performers such as Suzan Avcı, Zihni Göktay, Suna Selen and Doğu Erkan among the familiar faces appearing in the show. The series forms part of TRT's slate of domestically produced comedy programming at the close of that decade.
