Counterparts

Counterparts (German title: Gegenüber) is a 2007 German psychological drama and the feature-film debut of director Jan Bonny, who wrote the screenplay together with Christina Ebelt. The German-language picture runs about 96 minutes.

It premiered on 20 May 2007 at the Cannes Film Festival, competing in the Directors' Fortnight section, where it received an honourable mention for the CICAE Art Cinema Award alongside Anton Corbijn's Control; Bonny and Ebelt later took Best Screenplay at the Munich International Film Festival. The film opened in German cinemas on 11 October 2007 and was released in France in 2008 as L'Un contre l'autre.

Its ensemble includes Matthias Brandt, Victoria Trauttmansdorff and Wotan Wilke Möhring, as well as Turkish-German actor Özgür Özata.
