Be Beautiful But Shut Up

Movie · 1958 · 3 people

Released in 1958, Sois belle et tais-toi is a black-and-white French crime comedy directed by Marc Allégret. The leads are played by Mylène Demongeot and Henri Vidal, while Jean-Paul Belmondo and Alain Delon — both at the very beginning of their careers — turn up in supporting roles as junior members of a gang of crooks. Each would go on to rank among the biggest stars French cinema has produced. Mixing gangster and police-film ingredients with a light comic tone, the picture reached some markets under the alternative title Blonde for Danger. Shot in France with French dialogue, it is regarded as a typical specimen of the country's popular crime comedies of the era.
