Anatolian Eagles (Anadolu Kartalları) (translated)
Anatolian Eagles (Anadolu Kartalları) is a 2011 Turkish action drama directed by Ömer Vargı and written by Hakan Evrensel. Produced by Fida Film and released on October 28, 2011, it was commissioned for the centenary of the Turkish Air Force and shot in cooperation with the Air Force at facilities including the Konya 3rd Main Jet Base, İzmir Çiğli and Eskişehir. Some aerial sequences were performed by the aerobatic teams Türk Yıldızları and Solo Türk, and a purpose-built Bluebox Studio inside a vast maintenance hangar in Konya marked a first for Turkish cinema.
The story follows five young cadets—Onur, Ayşe, Mustafa, Tunç and Fatih—whose dream of becoming pilots is tested by hardship, rivalry and love, until the International Anatolian Eagle Exercise changes their lives under the guidance of Major Kemal Tanaçan. Starring Engin Altan Düzyatan, Çağatay Ulusoy, Özge Özpirinçci, Hande Subaşı and Şevket Çoruh, the film drew about 1.18 million admissions, ranking as the sixth-biggest Turkish box-office hit of 2011.
