An Average Little Man

An Average Little Man (Un borghese piccolo piccolo) is a 1977 Italian film directed by Mario Monicelli and adapted from Vincenzo Cerami's novel of the same name. Co-written by Monicelli and Sergio Amidei, it blends the commedia all'italiana tradition with psychological drama and tragedy. Alberto Sordi stars, with Shelley Winters and Romolo Valli among the principal cast.

The film competed at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival and went on to win three David di Donatello awards that year, including best film, best director and best actor. In 2008 it was included on the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage's list of 100 Italian films to be saved, honoring works that shaped the country's collective memory between 1942 and 1978.
