Osman Alkaş — Biography

Osman Alkaş is a Turkish Cypriot actor, born on 3 November 1955 in Nicosia. After graduating from the Acting Department of the Ankara State Conservatory in 1976, he took the stage at the Turkish Cypriot State Theatre; he remains active at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, of which he is one of the founders.

Alkaş made programmes on Bayrak Radio; he acted in and wrote for the series Gimme 6 (2001), filmed in Cyprus, and gained popularity among Turkish Cypriots with the programme Torba. Turkish audiences came to know him through the film Gölgeler ve Suretler (2010) and the series Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki (2010).

In the following years he appeared in the films Uzun Hikâye (2012), Hükümet Kadın 2 (2013) and Sarmaşık (2015), and in the series Hayat Şarkısı, Bedel, Bu Şehir Arkandan Gelecek and Yabani; his performance in Sarmaşık drew particular praise. In 2024 he portrayed Orhan in the series Kalpazan, and in 2025 he appeared in the film Confidente.
