Morteza Ahmadi — Biography

Morteza Haj Seyed Ahmadi was born on 1 November 1924 in a neighbourhood south of Tehran and began his film career in the early 1940s. Over roughly five decades on screen he became one of Iranian cinema's most recognizable character actors, while also building parallel reputations as a voice-dubbing artist, singer, and lexicographer.

His filmography spans from 1969 to 1994 and covers a wide range of eras: early-1970s productions such as Ferhat ile Şirin, Baba Shamal, and Motreb; mid-career films including Water, Red Hair, and Khane-kharab; 1980s works such as Otoboos, Grand Cinema, and The Man Who Knew too Much; and, in his later years, projects like Once Upon a Time Cinema and Kolah Ghermezi and Pesar Khaleh.

Ahmadi died on 21 December 2014 at the age of 90 and is remembered as one of the enduring figures of Iranian film history, known both for his character roles and for his extensive dubbing work.
