Kaya Akkaya — Biography

In 2008 the Turkish actor Kaya Akkaya won the Future Actor Award at the Golden Boll Film Festival for his role as Ömer in Ulak; his career runs from the stage to cinema and television. He is the twin brother of actor Sarp Akkaya. In recent years he has been seen in the series Tetikçinin Oğlu as police superintendent Sarp.

He was born in Istanbul on 13 May 1980 and graduated from the Theatre Department of the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory. He taught for two years at the Akademi Tiyatrosu, which he opened with his siblings. From 1996 he acted in films and series alongside his theatre and advertising work. In cinema he played Ömer in Ulak (2007), followed by Kar Beyaz (2010) and Veda (2010). On television he played Cem in Uçurum (2012), appeared in Hatırla Gönül (2015) and played Yaşar in the film Aşk Sana Benzer (2015).

In November 2017 he joined the series Söz as a guest actor, and in 2018 he appeared in the film Keloğlan. Bizim Aile, Yalancı Yarim, Yol Arkadaşım, Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Kördüğüm, Dedemin İnsanları and Kırmızı Oda are also part of his acting history. In 2023 he returned to the screen with Tetikçinin Oğlu, and in 2026 he met audiences in Bodrum with the stage show İki Adam.
