Hasan Ali Mete — Biography

Based in Germany, Turkish actor Hasan Ali Mete has worked on screens in both countries. He is best known for his parts in the films Lola + Bilidikid (1999, as Osman) and Kebab Connection (as Onkel Ahmet). Besides acting he has worked as an announcer, translator and bartender, and has run a business.

He moved with his family to Germany in 1971, returned to Turkey in 1979 and finished high school in Istanbul, continuing in theatre at the Istanbul Youth Theatre in several leading roles. In 1991 he went back to Germany and studied German literature, performing arts and political science at the Free University of Berlin. In 1993 he worked as an assistant director at a Turkish theatre in Berlin, and from then on he acted in many series and in short and feature films.

On German television he appeared between 1996 and 1999 in three episodes of Tatort in different roles (including Der Entscheider and Wer nicht schweigt, muß sterben), and also in Lindenstraße and various crime productions. In cinema he also appeared in Hacivat Karagöz Neden Öldürüldü? (2006), Uçuş Planı, Tod in Istanbul (2010), Tehran Taboo and Kebab extrascharf (2017). More recently he played Müjdat Kaya in Garip Bülbül Neşet Ertaş (2022) and Behzat Aygün in How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast).
