Can Togay — Biography
Can Togay (born August 27, 1955, in Budapest), also known as János Can Togay, is a Hungarian film director, screenwriter, actor, poet and cultural manager of Turkish descent.
He studied at Eötvös Loránd University, the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris and the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. He began acting with Petőfi '73 (1973) and went on to appear in Albay Redl (1985), Malina (1991) and Mavi Sürgün (1993), followed by such films as Bir Sonbahar Hikayesi (1994) and Jüpiter'in Uydusu (2017). He received the Béla Balázs Award for his contributions to Hungarian culture.
He is one of the creators of the "Shoes on the Danube Bank" memorial in Budapest, which commemorates the victims of the Holocaust.
