Jupiter's Moon (Jüpiter'in Uydusu)

Jupiter's Moon (Hungarian: Jupiter holdja) is a 2017 fantasy drama directed by Kornél Mundruczó from a screenplay he wrote with Kata Wéber. A co-production between Hungary, Germany and France, the film takes its title from Europa, the cold, icy fourth-largest moon of the planet Jupiter.

The story centres on Aryan, a young Syrian refugee who is shot by a police officer at the Hungarian border while fleeing with his father. Surviving against the odds, he discovers that he can levitate, and his path crosses that of Stern, a discredited doctor who sets out to profit from the miracle.

Zsombor Jéger plays Aryan opposite Merab Ninidze as Dr. Stern, with György Cserhalmi as László, Mónika Balsai as Vera, and Can Togay also appearing in the cast.

The film had its world premiere in the main competition of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on 19 May 2017, where it contended for the Palme d'Or, and it won the best feature-length film award at the Sitges Film Festival. It opened in Hungarian cinemas on 8 June 2017 and reached Turkish theatres on 1 December 2017.
