Alex Nicol — Biography
Alexander Livingston Nicol Jr., known professionally as Alex Nicol, was born on 20 January 1916 in Ossining, New York. He built his American screen career largely in Westerns, amassing more than forty feature-film credits, with his best-remembered part coming opposite James Stewart in The Man from Laramie (1955).
He later moved behind the camera as well, directing episodes of television series such as The Wild Wild West, Tarzan and Daniel Boone, and he also took stage roles on Broadway. Nicol died in Montecito, California, on 29 July 2001.
