Akasya Asıltürkmen — Biography
Akasya Asıltürkmen is a versatile Turkish actress who moves between stage and screen, works in dubbing and also coaches actors. She has taken supporting and guest roles on television for many years, and in the theatre she has appeared in a wide repertoire stretching from Shakespeare to Dürrenmatt.
She came to acting as a child through a course run by the Ali Poyrazoğlu Theatre, and around the same time took a part in İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında (1996), her first professional step. She graduated from the theatre department of the Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory. Her first major stage home was Semaver Kumpanya, with productions such as Onikinci Gece (Twelfth Night) and Süleyman ve Öbürsüler. Later she appeared with the Istanbul State Theatre in Fesleğen Çıkmazı and in plays such as Pamuk Prenses Müzikali, Romeo'yu Beklerken and Bekarlığa Veda, and kept studying through workshops in on-camera acting, musical theatre and diction.
On television she has appeared in series such as Lise Defteri (Ayça), Dayı (Müge), Saklambaç, Tarık ve Diğerleri (Kehribar), İpsiz Recep (Marika) and Başrolde Aşk; in film she took part in Çilekli Pasta, Araf (The Abortion) and Enkaz. She is of mixed Circassian, Georgian, Laz and Turkish origin.
