Yaman Tarcan — Biography

Selahattin Yaman Tarcan, known as Yaman Tarcan, was a stage-trained actor who appeared in around sixty productions on Turkish television and in cinema, from the 1990s to the end of the 2000s. He is remembered above all as Yanaşma Haydar, Dicle's husband, in the series Asmalı Konak. He was a member of the Çağdaş Sinema Oyuncuları Derneği (ÇASOD), the film actors' association.

He began his artistic career on stage in 1979 and played with several theatre companies. He first appeared before the camera in 1987 in the series Belene. In 1990 he became visible internationally as İlyas in Umuda Yolculuk, and the same year he also took part in the film Ölürayak. In the nineties he was seen in series such as Saygılar Bizden, Şaban Askerde, Fırtınalar and Feride, and in films like Işıklar Sönmesin. In 2002 Asmalı Konak brought him a wide audience; he also appeared in the follow-up film Asmalı Konak - Hayat.

In later years he acted in the films Mustafa Hakkında Herşey, Sis ve Gece and Çinliler Geliyor and in the series Köprü and Arka Sokaklar; his other television credits include Kurt Kapanı, Delikanlı, Emanet, Hırsız Polis and Kader, and İyilik Kervanı was among his last. He died in Istanbul on 2 May 2009 and was buried at the Kasımpaşa Kulaksız Cemetery.
