Vengo is a musical drama shot in 2000 as a France-Spain-Germany-Japan co-production, directed by Tony Gatlif, who also co-wrote the screenplay with David Trueba. Set among Andalusian gitano communities, it follows Caco, a proud and respected man undone by his daughter's death, as an old feud with the Caravaca family threatens to claim his nephew Diego as well. Flamenco song and dance run through the film, effectively doubling as its narrative backbone.

The cast is led by Spanish performers such as Antonio Canales and Antonio Dechent, alongside Turkish ney player Kudsi Ergüner, whose music contributes to the film's soundscape. Turkish-language sources note that the film won a special jury prize at the 2001 Istanbul Film Festival and was also part of that year's César Awards conversation in France.
