The Sunday Woman

The Sunday Woman (Italian: La donna della domenica) is a 1975 Italian-French crime film directed by Luigi Comencini and adapted from the novel of the same name by Carlo Fruttero and Franco Lucentini. The screenplay was written by Agenore Incrocci and Furio Scarpelli.

Set in Turin, the story begins with the murders of two ordinary people who both had ties to the city's upper class. Police commissioner Santamaria, played by Marcello Mastroianni, takes on the investigation and is drawn into the closed world of the Turinese bourgeoisie, where he meets the alluring Anna Carla Dosio, played by Jacqueline Bisset. Jean-Louis Trintignant also stars. Blending detective intrigue with social observation, the film mixes crime, drama and comedy while offering an ironic portrait of provincial high society.
