Quiet Chaos
Quiet Chaos (Caos calmo) is a 2008 Italian drama film directed by Antonello Grimaldi, adapted from Sandro Veronesi's novel of the same name. Pietro Paladini (Nanni Moretti), a successful television executive, saves two drowning women at the beach together with his brother, only to return home and find his wife dead. Left to raise his young daughter alone, he is plunged into grief. On the girl's first day of school he drops her off and decides to wait outside until evening, settling on a bench in the park across the street — a ritual he then repeats day after day. Gradually colleagues, his boss and acquaintances come to visit him there, and he begins conducting his work from the park, while his brother hopes he will take charge of the company. The ensemble cast also features Valeria Golino, Alessandro Gassmann, Isabella Ferrari and Kasia Smutniak. The film premiered at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival.
