Happy Lambs (Mutlu Kuzular) (translated)

Written and directed by Kadir Sözen, Mutlu Kuzular (Von glücklichen Schafen) is a 2015 German drama about Elmas, a mother living in Germany who works as a sex worker to secure a better future for her son Can and daughter Sevgi, both unaware of the truth. When sixteen-year-old Can discovers his mother's profession, he is shaken and flees with his little sister to the home of their estranged grandfather. Devastated by her children's departure, Elmas finally resolves to change her life, find new work and mend her family ties.

Running roughly a hundred minutes, the film explores themes of honour, shame and immigrant life within Germany's Turkish community. The cast includes Narges Rashidi, Benno Fürmann, Vedat Erincin, Anna Thalbach and Erhan Emre.
