Dairy Philosopher (Mandıra Filozofu) (translated)
Mandıra Filozofu (English: Dairy Philosopher) is a 2014 Turkish comedy film with an ecological theme. Directed by Müfit Can Saçıntı, it was written and produced by Birol Güven. The story unfolds mostly in the village of Çökertme in Muğla's Milas district, following Mustafa Ali, a man who lives close to nature and claims to need no money, as his world collides with a city-driven, profit-minded system.
The village's balance is shaken when Cavit, an Istanbul businessman, plans to buy the family's shared seaside plot and build a hotel; Mustafa Ali's cousin Şükrü, who needs money to marry, backs the sale, but Mustafa Ali resists. By the end of the negotiations, the burnt-out Cavit becomes the persuaded party and embraces a simple life himself. The cast includes Saçıntı alongside Rasim Öztekin, Ayda Aksel, Begüm Öner and Eser Eyüboğlu. A sequel, Mandıra Filozofu İstanbul, followed in 2015.
