Liberté, Égalité, Choucroute
Liberté, Égalité, Choucroute is a 1985 comedy film written and directed by Jean Yanne. A co-production between France, Germany and Italy, its title playfully grafts sauerkraut onto the famous motto of the French Revolution, signalling the film's irreverent, satirical spirit from the outset. The picture features an ensemble of well-known French screen performers of the period, including Michel Serrault, Darry Cowl, Roland Giraud and Venantino Venantini, alongside names such as Jean Poiret, Gérard Darmon, Daniel Prévost and Catherine Alric. Yanne himself, known for his biting humour both behind and in front of the camera, also appears among the cast.
