Salvation (Kurtuluş (film, 2026))
Salvation (Turkish: Kurtuluş) is a 2026 drama film written and directed by Emin Alper. An international co-production led by Turkey, France, and the Netherlands, it is set in a remote mountain village in Turkey. The story centers on a land dispute that erupts between the Hazeran tribe, aligned with the state-backed village guard system, and the Bezari clan, who return to the home they were forced to abandon years earlier, reviving a long-simmering feud.
Within the community, the influence of Mesut, who is guided by religious visions, steadily grows, and his beliefs push him to question his brother's authority. Torn between tradition, faith, and internal conflict, Mesut struggles to find a path that will keep his clan alive. The leading roles are played by Caner Cindoruk, Berkay Ateş, Feyyaz Duman, and Naz Göktan.
The film had its world premiere on 15 February 2026 in the main competition of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, where it received the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize, and opened in Turkish cinemas on 6 March 2026. It is spoken in Turkish and Kurdish.
