Jappeloup is a 2013 French-Canadian biographical drama directed by Christian Duguay. Drawing on real events, the film follows show jumper Pierre Durand and his mount Jappeloup de Luze on their climb to the top of the sport. Written off by many as too small to compete at the highest level, the horse defies expectations as Durand's persistence and trust carry the pair to French, European and world championships during the 1980s. Their career together peaks with an Olympic gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Games. Guillaume Canet penned the script and also plays the lead, while the ensemble features Marina Hands, Daniel Auteuil, Lou de Laâge, Jean Rochefort and Tchéky Karyo. For her role, Lou de Laâge earned a Most Promising Actress nomination at the 39th César Awards.
