Five Years

Five Years (original title 5 Jahre Leben) is a 2013 German-French drama adapted from Murat Kurnaz's autobiography "Five Years of My Life." In his feature debut as director, which he also co-wrote with David Finck, Stefan Schaller centres on the five years the Bremen-born, Turkish-descended Kurnaz spent at Guantánamo without ever being charged, focusing on the interrogations he endured there. The film premiered at the Max Ophüls Festival on January 23, 2013, and stars Sascha Alexander Gersak as Kurnaz alongside Ben Miles and John Keogh, with Kerem Can (as Serdal), Kida Khodr Ramadan, Şiir Eloğlu, and Tayfun Bademsoy rounding out the cast.
