En garde

En garde is a 2004 German drama written and directed by German-Kurdish filmmaker Ayşe Polat. Its title borrows the fencing command that tells opponents to ready themselves for a bout — a fitting metaphor for a story in which the characters must constantly parry life's blows and occasionally strike back themselves.

Running 94 minutes, the film follows teenagers growing up in a youth care home as they grapple with loneliness, rejection, and the search for friendship. Haluk Piyes appears in the cast.
