Brother and Sister

Brother and Sister (Die Geschwister) is a 2016 German drama directed by Jan Krüger, who co-wrote the screenplay with Anke Stelling. It centres on Thies, a property manager in Berlin who lives by strict rules at a time when affordable housing in the city has become scarce. His carefully ordered life begins to loosen after he meets two very different siblings, Bruno and Sonja. He arranges a flat for them through unofficial channels and gradually becomes romantically involved with Bruno, which pulls him deeper into the siblings' private world and the secrets they keep. The cast includes Vladimir Burlakov, Julius Nitschkoff and Irina Potapenko, alongside Hilmi Sözer and Özgür Karadeniz. Running about ninety minutes, the film quietly explores trust, intimacy and belonging against the backdrop of a changing Berlin.
