Bizarre, Bizarre

Bizarre, Bizarre (original title: Drôle de drame) is a 1937 French comedy-drama film directed by Marcel Carné. Adapted from British author J. Storer Clouston's 1912 novel His First Offence, it features a screenplay and dialogue by Jacques Prévert, whose writing brought the film much of its lasting fame. The film combines comedy with strong elements of social criticism and satire.

The principal cast includes Michel Simon, Louis Jouvet, Françoise Rosay and Jean-Louis Barrault. One celebrated scene, a dialogue exchanged between Michel Simon and Louis Jouvet beginning with the line « Je vous assure mon cher cousin, que vous avez dit bizarre », became iconic in French cinema. Running 105 minutes, the film was released theatrically in France in 1937.
