Lo squadrone bianco (Beyaz Müfreze)

Lo squadrone bianco, a 1936 Italian war drama directed by Augusto Genina, who co-wrote the screenplay with Gino Rocca, adapts the eponymous novel by French author Joseph Peyré. The story follows a young cavalry lieutenant, unlucky in love, who is posted to a desert outpost in Italian-occupied territory in what is now Libya and redeems himself in the fight against local rebels.

Filmed during the Second Italo-Abyssinian War, the film won the Mussolini Cup for best Italian film at the 1936 Venice Film Festival and went on to receive wide international distribution. It is regarded as one of the most significant propaganda films of the fascist era.
