Battle of the Amazons

Movie · 1973–1981 · 2 people

Battle of the Amazons (original title Le Amazzoni - Donne d'amore e di guerra) is an Italian picture directed by Alfonso Brescia and released in 1973. Written by Bruno Corbucci and Mario Amendola, it builds its story around Amazon women and blends adventure and fantasy material with broad, knockabout humour. Running roughly a hundred minutes, it is generally regarded as a low-budget entry in the wave of Italian genre productions of its era. The ensemble features Benito Stefanelli, Alberto Dell'Acqua, Paola Tedesco, Mirta Miller, Solvi Stubing, Lucretia Love and Riccardo Pizzuti, among others. The film travelled abroad under a number of alternate titles, a common fate for Italian exploitation releases of the period, and stands as one of the many genre efforts Brescia turned out during the 1970s.
