Ator l'invincibile

Ator, the Fighting Eagle (original Italian title Ator l'invincibile) is a 1982 Italian sword-and-sorcery adventure film directed by Joe D'Amato, who also handled the cinematography under the pseudonym David Hills. American bodybuilder Miles O'Keeffe plays the warrior Ator, alongside Sabrina Siani, Ritza Brown and Edmund Purdom. The plot follows Ator as he sets out on a perilous journey to rescue his wife Sandra and bring her home after she is kidnapped by the Spider Cult. D'Amato conceived the film to capitalize on the success of Conan the Barbarian, working with a far smaller budget than the American production, and it became part of the 1980s Italian revival of the peplum genre. Although Italian critics responded negatively, the film earned modest commercial success, which led to three sequels: Ator 2 – L'invincibile Orion (1984), Iron Warrior (1987) and Quest for the Mighty Sword (1990). It was produced by Filmirage from a screenplay by José María Sánchez and D'Amato.
