Pelin Akil — Biography

Pelin Akil was born on April 17, 1986 in Istanbul. Her mother's side descends from Macedonian immigrants, while her father's side is of Bosnian origin. A graduate of the Theatre Department of Yeditepe University, she began her career on the stage, appearing in plays such as the musical Rent, İstanbulname and Closer.

She had her first television experience with the series Arka Sıradakiler, broadcast between 2007 and 2011, in whose cast she remained for four seasons. She then portrayed Ballı Naciye in Kurt Kanunu, Seçil in Seksenler and Nisan in Suskunlar. In 2013 she made her cinema debut with the film Su ve Ateş, written and directed by Özcan Deniz, and went on to appear in the series Kızıl Elma, Ne Münasebet, Aile İşi and Çember.

In 2021 she played the character Izabel in the series Barbaros, and in 2022 she appeared in Ben Bu Cihana Sığmazam. She married her fellow actor Anıl Altan in 2016; the couple, who have twin daughters, divorced in 2025.
