Kamran Usluer — Biography

Kamran Usluer was a Turkish stage and film actor born in İzmir in 1937, who began his career with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres, appearing there in productions including King Lear, Oedipus Rex and Huzur. He remained with the company for decades until his retirement in 2002, and was also known for his voice-acting work.

Over more than three decades in Turkish cinema he appeared in close to fifty films, best remembered for playing Berfo in Eşkıya (The Bandit) and Halit Bey in Salkım Hanımın Taneleri (Mrs. Salkım's Diamonds); the latter role earned him the Best Actor award at the 2000 Ankara International Film Festival, following an earlier Best Supporting Actor win at the Golden Boll Film Festival in 1973 for Gelin. After a long struggle with lung cancer, Usluer died in Istanbul on 26 July 2004.
