İdil Üner — Biography

İdil Üner was born on 1 August 1971 in the Schöneberg district of Berlin and graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts, having studied piano and opera for years starting at age six. She performed as a young member of Tiyatrom, a Turkish-language theatre group in Berlin that her father helped found. Her first television appearance came in 1993 in the series Tatort, and she made her first film appearance soon after in a picture directed by Rudolf Thome. She gained recognition through Fatih Akın's Yaşamın Kıyısında and Thomas Arslan's Temmuz'da, and won Germany's top prize for gold short films with a work she wrote and directed in 2001. From 2008 she was a regular cast member of the crime series Mordkommission Istanbul.
