Hoji Fortuna — Biography

Born Hoji Ya Henda Braga Fortuna on 4 September 1974 in Luanda, Hoji Fortuna is an Angolan actor named after Hoji-ya-Henda, a celebrated figure of Angola's independence struggle.

He relocated to Portugal in his early twenties, where he studied law at the Catholic University of Portugal in Porto while supporting himself through modeling and DJ work before eventually turning to acting. From 2001 onward he built a career in theatre, television and film, becoming a familiar face in Portugal through roles in numerous TV series, and in 2008 he moved to New York with then-partner, travel writer Anja Mutic.

His breakout came with the role of the criminal César in the 2010 Congolese film Viva Riva!, which earned him the Africa Movie Academy Award for best supporting actor. He subsequently joined the cast of HBO's Game of Thrones and went on to appear in international productions including Buğday, Wilson City, A Prominent Patient and Banzo.
