A Prominent Patient

A Prominent Patient, known in Czech as Masaryk, is a 2016 Czech-Slovak biographical drama directed by Julius Ševčík, with a screenplay by Petr Kolečko, Alex Koenigsmark, and Ševčík himself. The film follows Jan Masaryk between 1937 and 1939, during his tenure as Czechoslovakia's ambassador to the United Kingdom, portraying the diplomat's struggle as his country comes under mounting pressure from Nazi Germany.

The film premiered at Prague's Lucerna cinema on 25 December 2016 and was later screened in the Berlinale Special section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. It became a major success in its home country, winning twelve Czech Lions, including the Czech Lion for Best Film.
